Nantong Jiangshan, the second largest glyphosate producer in China, is busy coping with the glyphosate anti-dumping investigation initiated by the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade Secretariat. The Brazil Government pronounced that the anti-dumping duty on glyphosate originating from China it is levying now can no longer offset the damage brings to glyphosate players in Brazil. Aiming to protect the interests of domestic plyphosate players, the Brazil Government decided to launch the investigation.
As more and more environmental problems sprung up in recent years, Chinese government is now much stricter with environmental protection investigations towards domestic chemical enterprises. Two listed companies in China, namely Shenhua Biok and Jiangsu Huifeng, are recently blamed to be resposible for some pollution porblems. And one of Shenhua Biok's pesticide subsidiaries has been forced to suspend production for rectification.
As for the severe drought broke out recently in China, it is declared by China Meteorological Administration that the continuous drought has impacted little on the production of summer grain, as the middle and lower reaches of the Changjiang River affected by the drought does not play as the main production areas of summer grain. Meanwhile, heavy rainfall also took place in partial areas of Jiangxi, Hunan and Guizhou. Over 600,000 people have suffered from the local rainstorm in Hunan, and over 500,000 people in Jiangxi.
